Ableton Live Won't Quit Mac Pro

Hi there,
sorry, this is probably a basic question, but I can't hear any audio.
Maci managed to get a signal input from my keyboard and mic (connected to my laptop via Fast Track Pro), and so i can record music into Live Lite (version 6), but when i try to play it back there is no audio.
I tested audio on the rest of my computer programs and it's fine there, so I must be making some basic beginner mistake, or have a mute button on or something... anyone have any ideas please?
Oh also, when i try to do the Sound test in the 'preferences' tab, i hear no sound there either... :S
